Meghan Markle Thought Prince Charles’ 70th Birthday Celebration Was Boring
During an interview with The Star, royal author Lady Colin Campbell revealed one surprising anecdote about Meghan Markle that happened at Prince Charles’ 70th birthday celebration. She said that a credible source told her that Prince Harry’s wife acted out at the garden party.
“I can’t repeat it exactly, it’s in the book, but what I can say is, something happened at the very first garden party at Buckingham Palace to celebrate Prince Charles’ 70th birthday and all of his charity work. Something happened there on Tuesday, and I was told about it on Wednesday evening at dinner by a household name with impeccable palace connections. We were all absolutely gobsmacked and astonished, we all thought this doesn't bode well. It was not a good harbinger, we were all hoping against hope the information was wrong, but of course, it was accurate,” she said (via Express).
According to Campbell, 15 minutes after the Duke and Duchess of Sussex arrived, some guests heard the latter telling her husband that they should leave the party. Markle reportedly told Prince Harry that she was bored, and since all the guests had already seen them there, they could already gracefully exit. However, Prince Harry stood his ground and said that they would stay.
The author of Diana in Private: The Princess Nobody Knows also said that a lot of people were rooting for Markle when she first joined the royal family. But it didn’t take long for everyone to realize that her life as a royal wouldn’t be as smooth sailing as the public hoped it would be.
Prince Harry, Meghan Markle Shouldn’t Attend Queen Elizabeth’s Platinum Jubilee
Meanwhile, this isn’t the first time that Campbell has talked about the Suits alum. Just last week, the reality TV star reacted to reports that Prince Harry and Markle could attend the queen’s Platinum Jubilee.
Campbell said that there’s a huge possibility that Prince Harry and Markle would get booed if they make an appearance on the Buckingham Palace balcony.
“This is not only going to be a family affair, this is actually a state occasion and let us remember we are not celebrating Granny’s 96th birthday for the Jubilee, we are celebrating the Queen’s accession to the throne. I have concerns about Harry and Meghan appearing not only because of the reception they get, not only because they manage to suck all the oxygen out of the room and turn it into a Harry and Meghan dog and pony show… but also because of the fact of the matter is, the British public don’t want them,” Campbell said (via Express).
Prince Harry, Meghan Markle Could Reach An Agreement With The Metropolitan Police
Prince Harry previously expressed concerns about his lack of security while he was in Britain. Initially, this is one of the reasons why royal experts are convinced he would skip the queen’s Platinum Jubilee. But his recent visit to Her Majesty at Windsor Castle reportedly left them dumfounded.
A source also told Daily Mail that Prince Harry is starting to reach an agreement with the Metropolitan Police. And if everything goes well, they could find a resolution, and he and Markle could indeed attend the queen’s Platinum Jubilee.
“Harry was fairly pleased with the way the operation worked and the liaison between his security team and the Metropolitan Police. He believes it means a workable solution can be found, allowing him to come over with his children as early as the Platinum Jubilee,” the source said.
