Meghan Markle has been rumored to have plans to join the race for the U.S. presidency in the future. The Duchess of Sussex hasn't addressed the speculations about her alleged political ambitions. Her half-brother, Thomas Markle Jr., weighed in on the rumors about her alleged plans to be the next U.S. president.
Meghan Markle Running For U.S. President Wouldn't Be Surprising
Meghan Markle's sibling, Thomas Markle Jr., spoke to Australia's New Idea magazine about the rumors that the duchess is joining politics. He acknowledged his sister's ambitious side and capacity while weighing on about the matter.
"She obviously has that personality and that determination and drive... it wouldn't surprise me [if she ran for president]," he was quoted by Daily Mail as saying.
"I just know, whatever endeavor she endures and puts her hands on, she will do good things. I wish her the best of luck, but absolutely if that's what she's going to put her sights on, she'll go for it."
He added that Markle was someone who always went after her dreams when she was growing up. So, if Markle wanted to be the next U.S. president, the public would soon know.
What Did Others Say About Meghan Markle's Alleged Presidential Plans
Royal biographer Tom Bower was convinced that Markle would likely launch a U.S. presidential campaign. However, for him, the duchess might struggle with the barrage of criticisms aimed at politicians because she is "sensitive."
He also added that Markle needs to be a "team player" and build an army of loyal staff. However, previous reports claimed that she had issues working with people when she was still a working royal.
"The prospect of Meghan running for president is possible and I'd even say likely. I really believe it's where she sees herself going," Bower told Closer magazine.
Meghan Markle's Dad Addressed Her Rumored Presidential Plans
Meghan Markle's dad, Thomas Markle Sr., was also asked about the rumors of her running for U.S. president. The Markle patriarch called it a "joke."
In an interview with GB News in August, Markle Sr. said his daughter had no political ambitions.
"From beginning to end, I think it’s a complete joke," Thomas told the host. "I don't think she has any ambition to be a mayor. I don’t think she has any ambition to be a governor or president. I don't think that's in her mind at all."
