Meghan Markle opened up about her alleged feud with Kate Middleton ahead of her royal wedding at least twice in recent months. Prince Harry’s wife previously claimed that the story about her making Middleton cry wasn’t true. After all, Middleton was the one who made her cry, but the Princess of Wales immediately apologized for what happened.
Meghan Markle Claimed That Kate Middleton Was The One Who Made Her Cry
On another occasion, Meghan Markle claimed that palace officials knew exactly what happened during Princess Charlotte’s bridesmaid dress fitting. But no one came forward to correct the ongoing narrative accusing her of making Prince William’s wife cry.
But royal author Valentine Low explained why palace officials stayed silent amid the controversy. According to Low, palace officials do not get involved with the feuds of the royal family.
“I don’t think that any royal press office would ever have done that. If I was employed as a royal press officer, I wouldn’t have put out anything official correcting that. I might have had a quiet word with people saying, ‘I wouldn’t necessarily be keen on following up that story if I was you,’” he told Newsweek.

Palace Officials Did Not Want To Meddle With Meghan Markle And Kate Middleton’s Feud
Low added that it wouldn’t have also made sense for the palace to release a statement regarding what really happened between Markle and Middleton because this isn’t something that they normally do.
“I don’t think any press office with any sense would put out a statement saying he didn’t make her cry. It keeps the story going. It fans the flames, so a one-day story becomes a three-day story. If you start getting involved in spats between individual members of the royal family, that’s a very dangerous road to go down,” he said.
Meghan Markle Struggled To Accept That She Was Blamed For Something She Didn’t Do
During her interview with Oprah Winfrey last year, Markle said that she had a hard time coming to terms with the fact that she was blamed for something that she didn’t do.
But Low alleged that this statement shows that the Duchess of Sussex became obsessed with trying to clear her name.
“The overriding issue that concerned her was a newspaper story about Kate crying after a bridesmaid’s dress fitting for Princess Charlotte that took place before the wedding. The truth is that, after the dress fitting, Meghan had become obsessed with trying to persuade the palace press office to put something out denying the story. They were equally adamant that it would be a serious mistake to start briefing about personal stories relating to differences between members of the royal family. Not only did they not want to brief against other royals, but they feared it would create a precedent, making it harder in the future for them to avoid commenting on personal tittle-tattle,” he explained (via Cheat Sheet).
As of writing, it’s unclear where Markle and Middleton’s relationship stands. And the real story behind the in-laws’ feud still remains unclear because the Princess of Wales never had the chance to air her side.
