The untimely death of Chadwick Boseman has left a massive void in the Marvel Cinematic Universe but as the old saying goes, the show must go on and Marvel Studios is determined to pay tribute to the late actor in the upcoming Black Panther sequel, a project he was set to headline prior to the pandemic and his tragic passing. There have been plenty of rumors circulating all over the web that Black Panther: Wakanda Forever will introduce us to the next Wakandan Avenger but as it stands, nothing has been officially announced yet.

Logically speaking, Letitia Wright's character Shuri, T'Challa's tech-savvy sister is the perfect candidate to become the next Black Panther, especially with Marvel championing women empowerment in the franchise and the rumored plans of an A-Force film. However, the recent controversy surrounding the actress might have hurt her chances of getting an upgraded role.

Other rumors suggest that Michael B. Jordan's character Killmonger will be brought back from the dead to redeem himself which I guess will work just as fine but according to a new scoop from Giant Freakin Robot, the studio has finally decided to give the honor to M'Baku actor Winston Duke. The specifics about his alleged casting have not been disclosed but the idea of Winston taking on the mantle isn't too farfetched to buy into.

Considering his history with T'Challa, M'Baku is more than worthy of becoming his official successor and I believe it's a move the fans can actually get behind with. Personally, I'm fine with anyone becoming the next Black Panther, just don't recast the character and just keep Boseman's legacy alive.

Black Panther: Wakanda Forever is currently slated for release on November 11, 2022.
