MCU Fans Slam Tom Holland's Spider-Man for Running Away from Doctor Octopus

We're less than two months away from the highly-anticipated release of Spider-Man: No Way Home and Sony Pictures has begun the marketing campaign for what's being described by lead star Tom Holland himself as the "most ambitious" superhero film ever. Of course, it's not that hard to buy onto that claim especially with rumors of Holland being joined by previous Spider-Man actors Tobey Maguire and Andrew Garfield to take on the "multiversal" Sinister Six.

Speaking of the dangerous Marvel faction, Empire Magazine recently released exclusive stills from the third Marvel Cinematic Universe Spider-Man film, and one of them is causing quite the debate on social media. The image in question features Tom Holland's version of the web-slinger "running away" from Doctor Octopus played by the returning Alfred Molina.

On Twitter, MCU fans blasted the 25-year-old actor's version of the Marvel hero for seemingly "chickening out" from Doc Ock who has become even more menacing than the last time we saw him. Some even compared Holland to his Spidey counterparts, saying that they'll never run away from a fight. Check out some of the hilarious reactions here:

All kidding aside, we can't just underestimate Tom Holland's Spider-Man judging by a movie still. If anything, his version of the wall-crawler has proven in the past that he's in the same league as Toby Maguire and Andrew Garfield. Now, whether you think he's far superior than the two, I'll leave that one up to you but the fact will always remain, Tom Holland is a worthy Spider-Man no matter how you put it.

Spider-Man: No Way Home hits cinemas on December 17, 2021.
