Fans of the Marvel Cinematic Universe are still being kept in the dark with regards to casting details about the highly anticipated Fantastic Four reboot. While a lot of people were under the impression that Kevin Feige would be announcing the film's official cast during D23 Expo 2022, the Marvel Studios boss made it clear that their main focus right now is the project's script which is currently being penned by Jeff Kaplan and Ian Springer.

Despite the apparent uncertainty about the film's lead cast, that hasn't stopped the fandom from speculating. On top of that, several Hollywood insiders continue to drop rumors about the MCU's iteration of the First Family, with names like Penn Badgley, Lily James, and most recently, Alexandra Daddario reportedly being the studio's top picks.

Then there's the idea that John Krasinski could be reprising the Mister Fantastic part following the great reception from the fandom when he briefly played the character in Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness. Now, as Marvel Studios continues its search, some fans have found a new candidate for the role and it is none other than ex-Superman actor Brandon Routh.

Routh, of course, famously played the Man of Steel in 2006's Superman Returns and also Ray Palmer aka the Atom in the Arrowverse. Turns out that a lot of folks are on board with the idea, so much so that Instagram artist @skull101ify even came up with an awesome fan artwork depicting Routh as the Smartest Man Alive.
