2021's Eternals was labeled as the worst Marvel film of all time. Despite the film being dragged by critics, it still acquired a massive fandom that constantly demanded a sequel. In a new Tales From The Mod Queue, Eternals 2 was teased as "on track" but Chloé Zhao would sadly no longer return to helm the sequel.
Following this leak, fans intensely refuse to accept that Zhao wouldn't helm the sequel. Now, they are demanding to bring back and secure the director to continue the Eternals franchise.

In a previous interview, Zhao reacted on possibly returning to helm an Eternals sequel and work with the ensemble cast once again, as long as the fans wanted to. "I was encouraged to make a good standalone film, very encouraged to do that," Zhao told JoBlo. "I think now the film belongs to you, not me, and we want to see how this child grows in this scary, wild, and beautiful world. And then we need to watch and listen and learn and then see where we go from there. But I think, maybe I’m wrong about this, but I feel like filmmakers, it doesn’t matter what genre, they tend to make the same movie over and over and over. There’s certain themes, there’s certain things that I would keep pushing, I’m very happy to go back to make films with five people again."
Despite the sore reception to the film, the fan demands will still dictate whether a sequel will be developed. Aside from the film's cliffhanger ending that sees Harry Styles as Thanos' brother Star Fox, Eternals still left some undisclosed mysteries that could surely be unraveled in a sequel.
For now, Marvel Studios hasn't yet announced anything regarding Eternals 2, but if these fan demands regarding Chloé Zhao persist, Marvel Studios might consider bringing her again.
