Following Komada: A Whisky Family’s theatrical run in Japan, P.A. Works shared a new trailer and announced the Mayonaka Punch release date window.
This new series is yet another original anime from P.A. Works, and it features an interesting story that follows the lives of online content creators.
Along with the show’s release date window, the anime’s staff was also revealed, and it consists of notable industry veterans.
P.A. Works Taps Ya Boy Kongming! Staff for New Project
P.A. Works has been on a roll lately. In 2022, the studio worked on the viral hit Ya Boy Kongming! Then, in Spring 23, the studio produced Skip and Loafer, a slice-of-life romance that got a lot of praise last year.
Now, the studio is back with another anime series, but this time, it’s an original production. To work on this series, the studio brought back the main staff from Ya Boy Kongming! such as the director, Shu Honma.
Other notable staff members include Hideaki Shirasaka as the scriptwriter and Ryota Arima (The Quintessential Quintuplets chief animation director) as the character designer.
Mayonaka Punch Gets Trailer and Story Details
This new anime was revealed via a teaser trailer that featured lots of clips featuring the main cast. It may only be under 30 seconds in length, but it does a lot in giving anime fans a taste of what to expect.
On top of the teaser trailer, P.A. Works also shared a key visual for the series that features its two main characters, Masaki and Ribu.
As for its premise, this series is billed as a “girls comedy” and it follows Masaki and Ribu, two “NewTubers” who create content to stream on “NewTube.”
Based on the premise and the clips shown in the trailer, this anime will essentially follow a group of YouTubers (or NewTubers in the show’s nomenclature).
Thus, it can be seen as a sort of extension of P.A. Works’ Working series.
Mayonaka Punch Release Date Window Announced
For now, the show’s voice cast has not been announced yet, but fans can already mark their calendars as the Mayonaka Punch release date window is set for July 2024.
This release window is a bit surprising, especially as many anime are announced well in advance, with some being revealed years before their premiere.
Given that the release window is quite near, cast details and other info will likely be revealed in the coming months.
Ahead of the anime’s premiere, a manga will begin serialization in March. A novel adaptation is also in the works.
