Maximum Carnage Rumors Pop Up Again Teasing Spider-Man Sony Crossover

Last August, word came out that Sony might be thinking of adopting the "Maximum Carnage" comic book storyline for its upcoming Venom movies. Now, it seems like the rumor has managed to resurface online.

The Hollywood Reporter just recently wrote an article about how the next Venom movie could set up a new Spider-Man event film for Sony, and in its piece, the publication touched the topic of the "Maximum Carnage" storyline which features Spider-Man, Venom, and Carnage together. Though the site doesn't really offer readers insider knowledge about the rumor, it does suggest that Venom 2 may adapt parts of the comic book storyline.

"It seems doubtful that Venom 2 will be a straight adaptation of Maximum Carnage, given the wide cast of characters that event brought together, But next summer's Morbius, starring Jared Leto, seems likely to feature some mention of Venom or even a post-credit appearance before the character returns in full in October."

This is pretty interesting news. If proven true, then Marvel fans might get to see Tom Holland (Spider-Man) working together with Tom Hardy (Venom) and Woody Harrelson (Carnage) for Venom 2. Though we would like to advise fans to take the report with a grain of salt, it's not entirely unlikely for Sony to bring Spider-Man into the next Venom movie. After all, Sony is open to having Holland making appearances in the SUMC even if he's still tied for two years over at Marvel.
