DC Studios has finally cast the actor who will play the main villain in the upcoming DCU movie Supergirl: Woman of Tomorrow.

Earlier this year, we learned the exciting news that House of the Dragon star Milly Alcock has been cast to play the DCU's Girl of Steel and will star in a solo movie that is slated to be the second theatrical project in the franchise.

Production is currently set to begin next year ahead of its planned theatrical release in the summer of 2026. The film will be based on the popular Tom King comic book series of the same name.

Reports have confirmed that The Old Guard and Rust and Bone star Matthias Schoenaerts has been cast to play the villain in Supergirl: Woman of Tomorrow.

He will be playing Krem of the Yellow Hill, who is also the main villain in the Tom King comic book series.

The film's story is described as "closer to a grand science-fiction adventure than standard superhero fare as the comic told of a young alien girl who seeks Supergirl’s help in exacting revenge for the killing of her family."

This is the first casting report regarding the film since Alcock was tapped to play the Girl of Steel, who will likely appear first in another DCU project before starring in her solo movie.

For the past several years, Schoenaerts has proven in various films and TV shows that he is a talented actor who can effectively play three-dimensional roles in both good and evil sides.

While Krem of the Yellow Hill might be more of a physical role, the actor has enough experience in doing action films and he might be able to adapt in a superhero world where it's more fantastical.

It would be interesting which other actors they might hire to join the ensemble and the well-known DC characters that they could potentially play.

Supergirl: Woman of Tomorrow is slated for release in theaters on June 26, 2026.
