Matthew McConaughey Offered Villain Role in Dark Tower Film Adaptation

Author Stephen King has had more film adaptations for his novels than most modern authors, but so far his fantasy epic The Dark Tower has been absent from the big screen. Finally, a film adaptation is in the works, and Variety reported that Matthew McConaughey is Sony's first choice to play the Man in Black, the story's main villain. McConaughey has been sent the script, but hasn't confirmed yet if he will take the role or not.

The Dark Tower series is comprised of 8 novels, and features a unique blend of fantasy, sci-fi, horror, and western genres. The first film will is slated for a January 13, 2017 release date, with more films and potential TV shows to follow. I'm excited that a good fantasy series is finally being adapted for film, but I'm not sure how I feel about Matthew McConaughey potentially playing the main villain. He did a great job in Interstellar recently, but I can't really see him as a demonic sorcerer in The Dark Tower. I guess we'll have to wait to see if he even accepts the offer first. We'll keep you updated on the development of The Dark Tower once more information emerges.
