The television side of the MCU started with WandaVision, which ended up becoming a huge hit and its most acclaimed project to date as it garnered a lot of accolades. Matt Shakman's direction is credited as one of the reasons why the series was a huge success.

Thanks to his acclaimed work in the series, Marvel Studios decided to continue their working relationship with Shakman by hiring him as the director of the upcoming Fantastic Four movie, which is currently in casting and pre-production ahead of filming next year.

Now, it looks like the working relationship between Marvel and the director might extend even further. According to reporter Jeff Sneider in The Hot Mic podcast, Shakman has signed a major deal with Marvel Studios extending his involvement with the studio in more projects.

Besides helming Fantastic Four, he claimed that Shakman's deal includes potentially directing episodes of the Vision Quest series and executive producing the Silver Surfer series, which has been rumored to be in the works for a while now.

So far, Marvel Studios has not confirmed the news yet nor the major trades have made a follow-up report regarding it so we may still have to take it with a grain of salt for now.

If the news ends up being true, it is not surprising to hear that Shakman may have signed a major deal with Marvel since it is pretty clear at this point that they have a great relationship and he is becoming a pivotal figure in the franchise's future with his bigger involvement.

Since he directed WandaVision, it makes sense that he might get involved in Vision Quest since he is very familiar with the character of Vision. As for the Silver Surfer project, it's also not surprising that he will be part of the producing team since he is directing Fantastic Four and the character is knowingly associated with the First Family.

For now, let's just wait and see whether this news ends up being true. We should be hearing more updates in the coming months.
