Master Gardener: Another Paul Schrader Film That Is a Must-See

Master Gardener is now out, telling a story like no other. Despite it featuring a harmless story about gardening, something sinister is about to take place.

Written and directed by Paul Schrader, known for his iconic works in Taxi Driver and Raging Bull, Master Gardener tells a story of a horticulturist whose dark secrets are about to be revealed. With the addition of a small but stellar cast, this one is a must-see.

Master Gardener Plotline

The film features the story of Narvel Roth, a gardener working hard to redeem himself from his past crimes.

He works hard at Mrs. Haverhill’s lush grounds. However, a huge problem is about to begin after she asks him to make her troubled niece, Maya, his apprentice.

Maya’s presence is a big threat to Narvel, threatening him to unveil his dark past. This will put his now-peaceful life as a horticulturist in danger, resulting in a conflict between him and Mrs. Haverhill.

Master Gardener will combine the relaxing art of gardening and the hazardous criminal dealings, considering Maya and Narvel have skeletons in their closets.

Master Gardener Cast of Characters

Master Gardener features an all-star cast led by Joel Edgerton as Narvel, the Gracewood Gardens’ head horticulturist.

Narvel has a troubled past, being a neo-Nazi, now in witness protection after revealing the names of the people he has worked with.

Next is Sigourney Weaver as Mrs. Haverhill, who owns the Gracewood Gardens estate. She asks Narvel to mentor her niece in gardening and works closely with him.
