Mass Effect Andromeda's Protagonist's Official Name Revealed

The official name of Mass Effect Andromeda's main character has been cofirmed to be "Ryder."

Fans already learned about the name back in November, when the Mass Effect N7 Day Explorers trailer was released. A glimpse of a dog tag less than half a second into the trailer reads "Ryder."

Mass Effect producer Michael Gamble confirmed that the fan theories about the protagonist's name are correct:

Then BioWare creative director Mark Walters clarified that the character can be played as either male or female:

EA said that it will reveal more information about Mass Effect Andromeda this Fall; perhaps that's when they'll announce the ames of the Asari and Krogan squad members.

Mass Effect Andromeda's release was originally set this year, but the game's release schedule was pushed into the first quarter of 2017.
