While Mashle is only five episodes in, it seems that one of its voice actors may have to step back. Recently, it was announced that Mashle’s Lance Crown voice actor Kaito Ishikawa will go on a 1-month hiatus beginning at the end of May.

His upcoming hiatus was announced by his agency, Stay Luck, which revealed that Ishikawa will need to undergo surgery.

Because of this, Ishikawa will need to take a 1-month break to recover.

Details about Ishikawa’s upcoming surgery were revealed on the agency’s official website. Specifically, it was shared that Ishikawa has been suffering from vocal polyps; an issue caused by the overuse of one’s voice.

While Ishikawa has been managing this since last year, his vocal polyps have worsened enough that surgery was recommended.

Because of this, Ishikawa has been scheduled to undergo surgery at the end of May.

Factoring in the one-month rest period, it is expected that Ishikawa will be back in late June.

Ishikawa is a popular voice actor who has played many roles in popular anime. Though he is perhaps best known for being the voice of Genos in One-Punch Man and Tenya Iida in My Hero Academia.

This season, Ishikawa has two major roles. First is Lance Crown in Mashle: Magic and Muscles. He is also the voice of Karaku, one of the four clones of Hantengu in Demon Slayer: Swordsmith Village Arc.

As most anime shows are being worked on while it airs, voice recording sessions are also usually done during the season.

Given this, it’s highly likely that Mashle's voice recording sessions have not yet been completed.

With Ishikawa about to undergo surgery, there’s a chance that he will be temporarily replaced for a couple of episodes in Mashle, and possibly even Demon Slayer.

This was the case with Gundam: Witch from Mercury as Nika Nanaura VA Yume Miyamoto was temporarily replaced for three episodes due to health issues.

For now, there’s no announcement yet on any postponement of Ishikawa’s activities. Though an update may be made later this month.

In the meantime, fans can watch the next episode of Mashle: Magic and Muscles when it releases on May 13 on Crunchyroll in the US.
