Marvel's Ultraman Comic is Coming Out This Year, Creative Team Announced

After getting announced last year, Marvel Comics has announced that their upcoming Ultraman comic book will be coming out this year. Revealed during C2E2, no official release date was given but fans of Japan and their culture will definitely find this interesting, to say the least. But who will pen the adventures of Ultraman in the Marvel Universe? Thanks to Marvel.com, we now know Marvel's Ultraman creative team; writers Kyle Higgins and Mat Groom with art by Francesco Manna.

Getting Kyle Higgins is a perfect move since he wrote the successful Power Rangers comics for BOOM Studios, which managed to mix pseudo-mature stories with these children's characters. Both Power Rangers and Ultraman were super sentai shows so this is a naturally perfect fit if nothing else.

Here's what Higgins had to say about getting the writing gig for this series:

"A few years ago, thanks to my time on Power Rangers, I was able to discover and learn more about Tokusatsu. With its wildly different conventions and inspirations, Tokusatsu — and Ultraman in particular — has been a huge source of joy for me. It's a genre so ripe with possibilities, even down to what we conceive of in the structure of Super Hero storytelling. It's both an honor and a privilege to bring Ultraman to Marvel."

Power Rangers aside, Higgins has also written several adventures for Batman and Nightwing. We have high expectations for this comic book and here's hoping that they are met, whenever this comic comes out at least.

Marvel's Ultraman comic book is coming out later this year.
