Marvel’s Blade Adds Pearl Star Mia Goth in Mystery Role

After several months of delay and major behind-the-scenes changes, the MCU reboot of Blade is finally moving forward to the production stage very soon. So far, we haven't heard a lot of updates regarding the project under director Yann Demange's purview and it is unknown yet if certain elements from the previous director will remain in this version.

Now, it looks like the project has received an exciting new casting update as Deadline has revealed that Pearl and X star Mia Goth is joining the cast of Blade. However, the details regarding the role that she is playing in the film are currently under wraps.

The Independent Spirit-nominated actress is joining Mahershala Ali, who is playing the titular hero. Delroy Lindo, Aaron Pierre, and Milan Ray were also previously cast in the film although it is unknown whether they'll remain since they joined back when Bassam Tariq was helming the project.

Demange is now set to direct the film, which will reportedly begin production in Atlanta this May. Michael Starrburry wrote the current draft of the screenplay. Kevin Feige is producing the film. It is set to be part of Phase Five of the MCU.

Goth is known for her starring roles in Ti West's X trilogy. She is currently filming the final entry titled MaXXXine. She also starred in other films such as Suspiria, High Life, Emma, and Infinity Pool. Her MCU role will mark her first major role in a big-budget franchise film.

This is exciting news since Goth's career has been on the rise recently thanks to her various roles in the X trilogy. Given her current status as one of this generation's scream queens, it is very fitting that her MCU project revolves around the horror genre and now it is interesting to see what kind of role will she play in the film.

There are fans online who are speculating that she could be playing Dracula's daughter Lilith, a character that has crossed paths with Blade in the comics. Nevertheless, it is great to see her as part of the MCU. Unlike her character Pearl, she is finally becoming a bigger star.
