Production for Marvel's Black Panther already started and one member of the film's fantastic cast is already building up the hype. Get Out star Daniel Kaluuya, who's playing W'Kabi (T'Challa's confidant) just compared the Ryan Coogler-helmed film to HBO's Game of Thrones. He also praised Ryan Coogler, saying in an interview with GQ:
"This is an African blockbuster, bruv. This is like Game of Thrones. This is crazy. And Ryan Coogler is just, man dem. He's like us! He's a normal dude, in a Golden State hat and a Tupac T-shirt directing the whole set. It's the most beautiful thing to see."
The film probably shares the same themes of power struggle since the first synopsis stated that T'Challa will be challenged by a "long-time adversary in a conflict of global consequences." It probably won't have the same kind of bloody violence and sex that the HBO is famously known for. Nonetheless, it's exciting to hear Kaluuya share his excitement for the film. It sounds like Koogler, who directed Fruitvale Station and Creed, has a lot in his sleeves, and I can't wait to see how T'Challa's story and the characters played by brilliant actors will come together.
Black Panther stars Chadwick Boseman, Michael B. Jordan, Lupita Nyong'o, Danai Gurira, Martin Freeman, Daniel Kaluuya, Angela Bassett, Forest Whitaker, and Andy Serkis.
