Marvel's Avengers Ms. Marvel Voice Actor Didn't Know She Would be the Lead Character

Marvel's Avengers will be coming out later this week and we're pretty hyped up about it. While the game does have some things that have us worried, like the Battle Passes, it looks like a fine enough game with plenty of replayability. Fans were also quite happy to see Kamala Khan aka Ms. Marvel as the game's lead protagonist since she has been quite the fan-favorite in various comic books and other forms of media so seeing her get the spotlight here is a big deal.

Sandra Saad, the voice of Ms. Marvel in Marvel's Avengers, spoke with Bleeding Cool about being in the game and her experience as Kamala Khan thus far. Hardcore fans will be happy to know that Saad started reading a bunch of comic books to know the character better, though she did state that the character was similar enough to her real-life personality that she didn't have to do too much research.

What really shocked Saad was the fact that Ms. Marvel was going to be the main protagonist of the game. Fans know that she's going to be the glue that brings The Avengers back together but Saad thought that someone like Captain America was going to be the lead character, so this fact shocked her.

It was really awesome. I didn't expect it, of course. You're going into an Avengers project, you would think that "Okay, so Cap's going to be the leader", right? That's what I thought and I feel like what everyone might assume, and I was right there with them. I didn't know right away, even like after a couple of shoots or a couple of scripts that I had, I wasn't too sure until, Shaun [Escayg] had to be like, "Yeah, you're the main protagonist." So for me, I had never really auditioned for a lead like this before, and now that the opportunity has come and I am this lead, I'm really excited for more of the same opportunities and to keep playing lead women of color who have this power behind them.

The fact that we are getting more women of color as lead characters is great so seeing Marvel's Avengers be a part of that is neat as all hell. She also looks like the most fun character thus far since stretchy characters seem fun, especially when her fists enlarge and beat the crap out of these A.I.M. agents. We're also quite happy for Sandra Saad and based on everything we've heard thus far, she's going to do just fine.

Marvel's Avengers comes out this Friday on PS4, Xbox One, PC, and Google Stadia.
