Marvel's Agents of SHIELD travels back in time to the 1930s in its seventh and final season. With a time travel plotline, this is the perfect way to make a crossover with the short-lived Agent Carter series.

In a recent interview with Entertainment Weekly, it has been revealed that Agents of SHIELD will indeed feature a crossover with the series, though not with Carter herself (unless it's a surprise cameo), but with Enver Gjokaj's Daniel Sousa.

"It wasn't anywhere near my brain," Gjokaj said. "I would've been thrilled at any moment for it to come back, but I think as an actor you don't have time. You just have to move on to the next project."

"One of the things we think is so fun — especially with Coulson, who's just a fanboy for S.H.I.E.L.D. history — is them just getting to walk right into [that history]," he added. "With Sousa, we had a good opportunity to hit that note with Agent Coulson." Given that Coulson and Sousa are "very similar," Gjokaj said it was "really fun" to have both characters in the same scene.

Sousa's last appearance on Agent Carter shows him running the Los Angeles branch of the SSR. It was also revealed that he was in a relationship with Peggy. That said, showrunner Jeff Bell teases seeing Sousa "in a different light" and "another color of him that you hadn't necessarily seen on the show."
