Marvel Writer Dan Slott Gives Explanation on How Captain America Can Use Mjolnir to Summon Lightning

Nitpicky fans can ruin some pretty awesome movie moments, case in point: Captain America using Mjolnir to summon lightning during the climax of Avengers: Endgame. While this would not be a problem in the comics, Thor: Ragnarok made it clear that Mjolnir was used to control Thor's lightning powers. With this information in mind, fans have been wondering about this walking plothole, with the Endgame writers essentially calling defeat over it.

Thankfully, Fantastic Four and Iron Man writer Dan Slott is here to give us an interesting answer. Slott has been writing Marvel comics for close to a decade, including a character-defining run in Amazing Spider-Man that many will remember fondly. He was also responsible for Superior Spider-Man, which was one of Marvel's finest titles.

Responding to an article about the plothole, Slott said the following on his Twitter:

Even if Thor does provide the lightning (as seen in THOR: RAGNAROK ) and Mjolnir is a conduit/way-of-channeling that, Cap can still bring down thunder WITH Mjolnir because Thor is on hand and Thor wills it to be so.

As we wait for more writers to chime in on what their Endgame theories are, I think most of us will agree that this is all pointless and the movie has already happened, so just enjoy what we got. Nitpicking can be fun but don't ruin it for others.

Avengers: Endgame is now available on Blu-ray.
