Fans have at least eight takeaways following the presentation of Marvel vs. Capcom: Infinite. That is, there are four new Marvel and four Capcom characters slated to join the roster, on top of the 14 previously confirmed ones.
According to the announcement at E3 2017 (via IGN), the eight new characters include Doctor Strange, Gamora, Nova, and Thanos for Marvel, and Arthur, Dante, Spencer, and Arthur. Reviewing these names, it appears that a previous leak did get the names right.
The addition of Thanos pretty much seals the deal for the inclusion of the Infinity Stones, and as can be seen in the released Story Trailer below, it will entail a bigger villain and a surprising ally.
Ultron Sigma, the apparent villain, has two of the six stones. In an interesting plot twist, instead of looking at Thanos as the enemy, it seems that the combination of the Avengers and Capcom fighters are looking at him for help. We get a lecture on some of the stones and funnily enough, Thanos almost arrives "to save the day."
The overall design of the characters is pretty neat, with details here and there, a couple of which borrow from their comic book counterparts (Hawkeye's violet costume and eyemask make an appearance). Between her green bob and the exosuit-looking outfit, Gamora is unrecognizable from her Marvel counterpart.
We're expecting more details for Marvel vs. Capcom: Infinite in the coming days. What you should note for the announcements at E3 2017, however, is that there are six more characters and costumes that come with the deluxe edition—and that's something you should get, if you're interested in getting Black Panther, among others. At the same time, a Story Demo is already available on the PS4 and Xbox One, so grab it and take the game out for a spin.
Marvel vs. Capcom: Infinite will be released on Sept. 19.
