Marvel Villain Team-Up Project Has Reportedly Begun Early Development

Thunderbolts has, for the longest time, been rumored over at Marvel. Now, new reports are suggesting that Marvel has begun "very early development" of the upcoming series.

According to MCU Cosmic, word on the street has it that Marvel has begun working on its long-rumored Thunderbolts series. We can't really be sure right now whether Marvel is developing the project as a film or as a live-action series for Disney's upcoming streaming site, Disney+, but we're sure darn excited by the news.

For those who aren't familiar with the name, in Marvel Comics, the Thunderbolts is a team of Marvel supervillains that eventually turn into heroes. Captain America's enemy, Baron Zemo, reunites the villain group, Masters of Evil when the Avengers seemingly perish against a new threat called Onslaught. The Masters of Evil then take the Earth's mightiest heroes place as the next generation of crime-fighters, of course for their own personal gain. However, some members of the group eventually find themselves reformed throughout the comic book run.

We can't really be sure which characters might be involved in the Thunderbolts series, we are familiar with the members of the team in the comics. This includes Spider-Man villains like Venom and Norman Osborn, Daredevil villain Bullseye, the Eric O'Grady, Taskmaster, Ant-Man, The Punisher, Deadpool, and Red Hulk.

As exciting as the news sounds, we'll have to wait for official confirmation from Marvel before cheering on for the series. We can't really be sure whether or not Marvel really is developing Thunderbolts unless the studio officially announces the project.

Phase 4 of the MCU begins when Black Widow premieres on May 1, 2020.
