Disney's acquisition of 21st Century Fox and the studio's film and television assets seems inevitable despite the recent snag the deal hit in Brazil. With the merger on its way, fans have been expecting the arrival of the X-Men, Fantastic Four, and all of Fox's other mutants into the Marvel Cinematic Universe. One of the characters that Marvel FX supervisor Eric Saindon is especially looking forward to is Silver Surfer.

Speaking in a recent interview with HN Entertainment, Saindon opened up about the upcoming Disney Fox merger, saying that he's hoping to see the Silver Surfer get a movie of his own on the big screen. According to Saindon, he hopes that Marvel would make a new version of the character, saying that it would be great to see the mutant now that VFX techniques have vastly improved since the release of the 2007 Fox movie, The Fantastic Four: Rise of the Silver Surfer.

"Well, to be honest I'd love to see Silver Surfer realized in a different way, I don't know, that movie could be re-realized in a new way especially with the techniques we have now, like if it was performance capture from the start and you were able to get a performance from somebody that really embodied the character then I think you could come up with a really interesting story for it," Saindon told the publication during the interview.

"I think back in the day, the way it was done it was sort of animated after and it never really reached the potential it could have been," the VFX artist added, "There is such interesting stuff, stories out there for Silver Surfer that you could make something really fun out of that,"

Interestingly enough, Vice director Adam McKay has been hoping to bring the Silver Surfer back to the big screen, telling news outlets on the red carpet of the 76th Golden Gloves that there were ongoing conversations about the character.

For those who aren't entirely familiar with the Silver Surfer, the character was created by Jack Kirby back in 1966 and first appeared in Fantastic Four #48. Metallic-skinned, the Silver Surfer was a humanoid who served as the herald of Galactus to save his homeworld from the cosmic devourer.
