Marvel Teases Return of Ghost Rider Johnny Blaze in 'Avengers'

Jason Aaron's current run in The Avengers has been an interesting one, giving us a neat team that's a mixture of classic members (Captain America, Iron Man, Thor), MCU standouts (Captain Marvel, Black Panther), and some of the weirder heroes (Blade, Ghost Rider, She-Hulk). The Ghost Rider we've been seeing has been new character Robbie Reyes, but Marvel is now teasing the return of Johnny Blaze, the original Rider.

(Yes, both Black Panther and Captain Marvel are classic characters too, just making a point here.)

At the end of Avengers #16, it was revealed that Robbie Reyes was trapped in hell after the Spirit of Vengeance took over his body. While he was trapped, a mysterious voice was talking to him and it was shown in the end that Reyes was talking to Blaze, who had become the King of Hell at the end of the Doctor Strange event Damnation.

We haven't seen Blaze in a while so this interaction is definitely teasing something big coming between the two. This could be the first time these two characters have had contact with each other and their eventual fight should be hella great. Jason Aaron has written Blaze before, via a Ghost Rider comic series, so seeing the writer use him again after a huge status quo shift should get people talking.
