If you've been following the Marvel Cinematic Universe since its inception, you're very much aware that the franchise is no longer a stranger to making drastic changes to the origin stories of its characters. It can't be denied that it's been a hit-or-miss kind of situation for Marvel Studios but that hasn't stopped them from moving away from the source material and taking a different approach.

Speaking of, there's ongoing speculation on social media that the studio is planning to change the origin story of arguably X-Men's most recognizable character, Wolverine.

An intriguing rumor that originated from Reddit is making the rounds on Twitter which claims that Earth-616 Logan will be an incarnation of US President Abraham Lincoln. The rumor also claims that Wolverine lived in the woods and was a lumberjack.

It also seems to line up with Captain America: New World Order's rumored plot point where Thunderbolt Ross (now played by Harrison Ford) becomes the President of the United States. The rumor adds that Logan will finally show himself to the world when the future Red Hulk ascends atop the government, bringing in the rest of the mutants with him, or at least some of them.

As it stands, the authenticity of the said rumor remains questionable but should it be true, there's a 100% chance that it will raise a number of eyebrows within the MCU fandom. Of course, we've seen crazier things take place in the billion-dollar franchise throughout its existence so I guess an idea as wild as this is no longer surprising.

Captain America: New World Order is slated to hit theaters on May 3, 2024.
