Marvel Studios President Kevin Feige Says Work Has Begun On Black Panther 2

Black Panther was a major success when it released back in February last year. Not only did the film serve as Chadwick Boseman's very first standalone movie as T'Challa, but it also became Marvel's very first all-black superhero movie. Soon enough, Black Panther became a social phenomenon, and the film went on to become both 0a critical and commercial success.

With Avengers: Endgame done and gone, fans have started wondering when exactly Marvel might start working on a Black Panther sequel now that the studio can start moving on towards Phase 4 of the Marvel Cinematic Universe. Turns out that the studio has actually begun working on Black Panther 2.

Marvel Studios President Kevin Feige has been making the rounds promoting Marvel's final film of the year, Spider-Man: Far From Home. Speaking in an interview with BET, Feige was also asked about the rumors regarding Michael B. Jordan's Killmonger and Black Panther 2.

In his response, Feige unwittingly reveals that Black Panther director Ryan Coogler actually started work on the sequel.

"The honest answer to that is that is pure rumor and speculation because Mr. Coogler is just only in recent weeks sitting down at his keyboard and beginning to outline the movie," Feige told the publication, "It's early, so nothing is set yet in any way that far because Mr. Coogler is sitting down and will share it with Nate Moore and myself in coming weeks."

For the past few months, there have been rumors going around saying that Jordan might return as Killmonger in Black Panther 2. The news came as quite a surprise to many – Killmonger had been killed in the first Black Panther movie.

Now, we have confirmation that the rumors have no truth to them and that Marvel's begun pre-production on Black Panther 2. Let's wait and see whether Marvel gives the film a release date.

Marvel's latest release, Spider-Man: Far From Home, is currently screening in cinemas.
