Marvel Studios President Kevin Feige On The Real Value Of The MCU’s End-Credits Scene

It's been quite a while since Marvel has been using post-credit and mid-credit scenes to help build the Marvel Cinematic Universe, and while fans love waiting for extra scenes that help hype up other films in the franchise, there's another bonus to waiting at the end of every Marvel movie.

Marvel Studios president Kevin Feige was recently honoured for his contributions to the film industry at this year's Britannia Awards, and during his acceptance speech (via ComicBook.com) the producer decided to talk about why he's so proud of the popular post-credits scenes in the MCU.

According to Feige, not only do the post-credits scenes hint at what's to come, but it's also a way for fans to sit down and look at all the of the people who worked hard to bring the film to life.

"Movies bring people together, but they also bring people together behind the scenes," Feige told fans during his acceptance speech. "At Marvel Studios, we've been putting a scene after the end credits in all of our films since the very beginning. The fans love it, it's a tease of something to come."

"But the real bonus is that the audience is going to sit there and look at all the names of the hundreds of thousands of people who work so hard to bring these movies to life. That really inspired me as a kid, to see all those names and I hope it inspires people today," the producer added.

It's a pretty neat trick too. Sure, the post-credits and mid-credits sequences do mostly help build the franchise, however, they also force the audience to go through the names of all the people who help bring the movie to the big screen.

If not for the end-credits and mid-credits sequences, Marvel fans would most likely leave cinemas before the credits begin to roll.

Marvel's most highly anticipated film of 2019, Avengers 4, premieres on May 3 next year.
