Marvel Studios' Nova In the Works With Moon Knight Writer

After the events of Avengers: Endgame, the surviving heroes in the MCU continue to save the world (and the universe) while also introducing new ones such as Shang-Chi, Moon Knight, She-Hulk, Ms. Marvel, and more who are set to have their own heroic journey in the franchise that fans will invest on for years to come. Now, another beloved hero from the comics is set to join the MCU soon and it's someone that fans have been clamoring for years.

According to Deadline, Marvel Studios is developing a Nova project which will introduce Richard Rider/Nova in the MCU. Moon Knight writer Sabir Pirzada is tapped to write the project. Kevin Feige serves as a producer just like in any other MCU project. It is unknown yet if it will be a feature film or a Disney+ limited series.

In case you're not familiar with the character, Richard Rider/Nova is a member of the Nova Corps, an intergalactic police force, for which he gained superhuman abilities including enhanced strength, flight, and resistance to injury. He made his debut in the comics in The Man Called Nova #1 back in September 1976. IGN placed him number 19th in their list of "Top 50 Avengers" in 2012.

It is exciting to hear that Marvel Studios is now officially working on a Nova project and introducing Richard Rider in the franchise soon as a lot of fans have been wanting him to join the MCU for some time now. The closest one that we've got is when the Nova Corps appeared in Guardians of the Galaxy. However, the team didn't show up again as Thanos killed some members off-screen during his quest to take the Power Stone before the events of Avengers: Infinity War.

It is likely that Marvel Studios will follow most of the character's lore in the comics when they introduce Nova in the MCU. While the Nova Corps seems to be a defunct team now as far as we know, there might be surviving members including Richard Rider, will who officially set himself on a path to become a superhero. This project will also be an opportunity for Irani Rael and Rhomann Dey to make their MCU return.

Right now, it is still unknown if the project will be a feature film or Disney+ series. Given the potential scope, a feature film might suit better as they can do the story on an epic scale and have a bigger budget to execute the on-screen iteration of the character. We should be able to find out the exact details soon enough once Marvel makes their official announcement in an upcoming presentation.
