There are already a few Marvel shows coming to Disney+ that fans are excited about, but a new rumor suggests that a show following a wall-crawler could arrive at the streaming service as well.

This rumor comes from scooper Mikey Sutton (via Bounding Into Comics), claiming that Sony and Marvel Studios will collaborate to develop Spider-Man 2099 for Disney+. "Spider-Man is coming to television," the scooper says. "It just won't be Peter Parker."

Sutton claims he received a phone call, letting him know that a Spider-Man 2099 live-action show has been discussed for the streaming service. "In other words, this'll be a Sony-Marvel Studios collaboration," he says. "If it is greenlit with Kevin Feige manning the controls."

That said, Sutton admits he knows "quite little" about the property. While he usually tries to "dig deeper" before releasing a story of this matter, the scooper claims his source has been "accurate in the past."

Aside from it being a collaboration between Sony and Marvel, Sutton didn't provide further details. And as always, this should be taken with a grain of salt as it is only a rumor for now. However, if this were to be confirmed, the idea is certainly exciting and there could be opportunities for cameos and for the character to be brought to the big screen.

Created by Peter David and Rick Leonardi, Spider-Man 2099 first appeared in Amazing Spider-Man #365 and made his official debut in Spider-Man 2099 #1.
