Avengers: Endgame might have closed the chapter of many of the Marvel Cinematic Universe's heroes including Black Widow (Scarlett Johansson) and Iron Man (Robert Downey Jr.), however, for others like War Machine (Don Cheadle), the fight to protect Earth continues.
Speaking in a recent interview (via Heroic Hollywood), Cheadle talks about War Machine's future in the MCu now that Endgame has come and gone. Though the actor doesn't seem to be privy to whatever plans Marvel has for James Rhodes, Cheadle would like the next project to be more or less similar to the first Iron Man movie.
"If there were to be one, I'd really want to dig into him and maybe even find something that felt closer to the first Iron Man for who he was. I think they can go anywhere with him now," the actor told the publication.
Cheadle was also asked about whether there was some kind of War Machine series being developed for Disney+, however, the actor says that he hasn't given the idea that much thought and that he doesn't really know whether Marvel has a new show planned for the character.
"I really don't know. I haven't given it much thought as far as which would be or if either would even be. That was an 11 year journey," Cheadle said.
While War Machine was closely tied to Iron Man, the character still does have a potential future in the MCU. The only real question is what that future might entail and what films or series we might get to see Rhodey in. Let's wait and see.
Avengers: Endgame is available on Digital HD, Blu-Ray, and DVD.
