Marvel Rumored to Turn Captain Marvel Evil in Avengers 5

It might sound a little bit strange to Marvel fans after seeing Carol Danvers (Brie Larson) in Captain Marvel, but it looks like there are rumors going around saying that Marvel plans to turn Captain Marvel into a villain in the next Avengers movie.

According to a report by Showbiz Cheat Sheet, sources close to Marvel say that the studio is thinking of turning Carol Danvers into an evil hero by the time Avengers 5 finally arrives. Marvel hasn't really announced the fifth Avengers movie yet, but seeing the current timeline of the Marvel Cinematic Universe, it seems like the studio may have it scheduled for Phase 5 after the release of Captain Marvel 2.

While Captain Marvel fans can't imagine seeing Brie Larson's version of Carol Danvers hurting others and turning evil, there have been many comic book series where we get to see Captain Marvel turn into a villain. In the new Captain Marvel series by writer Kelly Thompson, we get to see Captain Marvel go down a dark path, one that takes Carol Danvers on a mission to kill her Avenger friends. Another comic has an alien life form possessing Captain Marvel so that she turns against her friends.

According to the entertainment news outlet's sources, Marvel wants to explore the darker side of Captain Marvel in the MCU, beginning in Avengers 5. The studio will reportedly continue down that trajectory until Captain Marvel 3 which will open the door for Marvel to introduce some major villains into the MCU.
