Marvel Reportedly Planning on Adapting Controversial Spider-Man Arc in Two New Movies

Disney's new Spider-Man deal with Sony may only cover two more Marvel movies, however, there are new reports staying that Marvel is working on developing a fourth and fifth standalone movie for everyone's favorite wall-crawler.

According to a report by We Got This Covered, sources close to Marvel say that the studio is preparing for the long game despite Disney's limited Spider-Man deal. Marvel Studios is reportedly gearing up to develop a fourth and fifth standalone movie for Tom Holland's Peter Parker, and one of those films is going to feature a rather interesting Spider-Man arc.

The fourth Spider-Man movie is reportedly going to set up the adaptation of the Superior Spider-Man arc in the MCU. The arc will then play out in the fifth Spider-Man movie.

For those who aren't that familiar with the Spider-Man comic book arc, the Superior Spider-Man comic book series is one where Otto Octavius, otherwise known as Doc Oc, takes over Peter Parker's body so that he can prove that he's the "superior" Spider-Man by being a better superhero than Petr and by being a better person. It's an interesting story, one where comic book readers get to see Doctor Octopus repenting for all of the villainous crimes that he's done before.

The Superior Spider-Man arc would definitely be an interesting choice for Marvel. However, as much as we'd love to see Doc Oc redeem himself by taking over Spider-Man's body, we advise fans to take the report with a grain of salt. We can't really trust rumors until they're confirmed by Marvel itself.

Marvel's next release, Black Widow, is set to premiere on November 6, 2020.
