Marvel Reportedly Planning An 'Ultimates' Movie

Marvel might be waiting for the premiere of Spider-Man: Far From Home to announce its plans for Phase 4 of the Marvel Cinematic Universe, however, there have been rumors about one certain film for the franchise: The Ultimates.

According to industry site HN Entertainment, Marvel Studios is reportedly working on a film featuring The Ultimates. For those who aren't familiar with the name, The Ultimates is a comic book hero group that has had a number of different lineups throughout its run. The team was created by Mark Millar and Bryan Hitch. Captain America was the series leader and the group's founding members consisted of Hawkeye, Iron Man, and Thor – all familiar names to both comic book fans and fans of the Marvel film franchise.

Of course, we expect Marvel to move away from this team up – the original Avengers have long since had their spotlight in the MCU. Though it's unclear what iteration of the group The Ultimates film project will focus on, we're expecting lesser known characters to come to play.

However, as with any obscure report, we advise readers to take this rumor with a grain of salt. Marvel has yet to allude to an Ultimates movie. We'll have to wait for some sort of announcement or hint from the studio before jumping to conclusion.

The idea of an Ultimates movie isn't entirely impossible though. After all, the team has focused on battling cosmic and interdimensional threats, something that Marvel wants to focus on in its Marvel Cosmic Universe.

Marvel's latest film, Avengers: Endgame is currently screening in cinemas.
