Marvel Reportedly Has Major Plans for Hercules in Phase 4 of MCU

It looks like Marvel may have exciting plans for Hercules in the Marvel Cinematic Universe.

Though the comic book Eternal character has not been announced in the MCU's upcoming The Eternals movie, for the past few months there have been a number of rumors circulating online saying that Hercules will make his way into Marvel's live-action film franchise – if not in The Eternals, then in other Phase 4 movies like the highly-anticipated Thor: Love and Thunder.

Now, according to a new report by prolific pop culture insider Mikey Sutton (via Bounding Into Comics), there have reportedly been discussions at Marvel about bringing Hercules to Disney+ as part of a live-action Journey Into Mystery series.

According to Sutton, Marvel Studios President Kevin Feige is a big fan of the character's comic book run in 1982 and 1984 called Hercules: Prince of Power. This comic book series is supposed to serve as inspiration for Journey Into Mystery.

This isn't the first time that Hercules has been rumored to appear in the MCU. Earlier this year, there were reports that the character would definitely appear in The Eternals, effectively allowing the film to introduce the MCU's very first openly gay character.

Unfortunately, while Marvel has revealed the official cast list for the movie, Hercules hasn't been named for the film.

Fans will just have to wait and see whether Hercules does manage to join the MCU and whether or not the character will have some sort of impact in the Marvel film franchise.

Phase 4 of the MCU begins when Black Widow premieres on November 6, 2020.
