Now, word on the street says that Disney was actually planning to drop a few major Marvel announcements during the Disney+ European launch event. According to a report by BGR, Marvel was planning to reveal actual launch dates for a number of Marvel TV series set to launch on Disney+ later this year. There have also been rumors suggesting that Marvel had also been planning to announce new shows during the Disney+ launch event.

Unfortunately, Disney decided to cancel the launch event in London because of fears of the spread of the novel coronavirus. Apparently, COVID-19 has been spread to a number of other countries, and that includes Iran, Italy, and South Korea. Because of its aggressive spread, major events like the Mobile World Congress and the Geneva Auto show have also been canceled along with the Disney+ launch event.

Disney has already sent out a cancellation notice to members of the press, informing the media that the event which was scheduled to take place on March 15 at the Exhibition London has been canceled due to the COVID-19 outbreak. The event was supposed to kick off Disney+'s European launch by celebrating with exclusive presentations from executives, creators, and special guests. It was supposed to gather hundreds of attendees.

"Due to a number of media attendee cancellations and increasing concerns at the prospect of traveling internationally at this time, we have decided to cancel our Disney+ launch events scheduled to take place on Thursday and Friday," Disney wrote in its event cancellation notice.

Now, Disney has decided to scrap the event, opting to promote the European launch through social media instead.

Disney+ will finally be made available to Europe this March. The streaming site has been available in the US since late 2019.
