It's been a while since Disney completed its merger with 21st Century Fox, and Marvel fans are dying to know when Marvel Studios might bring the X-Men, Fantastic Four, Deadpool, and all of Fox's other mutant heroes into the Marvel Cinematic Universe.
While Marvel has yet to officially unveil its plans for the mutants, there have been quite a number of rumors regarding the X-Men and the Fantastic Four in the MCU. This week, two mutants have managed to find their way into the Marvel rumor mill for two different Phase 4 projects.
Posting on 4chan, a Marvel fan shared alleged plot points for Marvel's upcoming Disney+ series, The Falcon and the Winter Soldier. According to the leak, "Sam (Anthony Mackie) isn't allowed to be Cap because of the events of Civil War but trusts US Agent to take over the mantle. US Agent genuinely wants to do a good job and doesn't realize he's part of a bigger plan."
The leak then goes on to reveal the villains for the series: Batroc the Leaper and Omega Red. While Batroc the Leaper doesn't have any superhuman abilities, Omega Red is a supervillain commonly associated with the X-Men.
Earlier this week, Marvel leaker Daniel Richtman shared information suggesting that Marvel might introduce a mutant into Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings.
"I have learned there is a character in Shang Chi who's a mutant in the comics. Wiz Kid. No idea if he'll be a mutant in the film tho..." Richtman wrote on a tweet:
According to the leaker, he saw Wiz Kid on a month ago but didn't know that he's a mutant character from the comics.
If the rumors are proven to be true, then Marvel may be planning to introduce the X-Men through a slow rollout instead of a big bang introduction. Then again, the rumors may not be true. Let's wait and see what Marvel has planned for the franchise.
Phase 4 of the MCU begins when Black Widow premieres on May 1, 2020.
