Marvel might be keeping a tight lid on Avengers: Endgame's secrets, but it looks like the studio has just confirmed a popular Avengers: Infinity War fan theory that's been running around online.
In the very first scene of Infinity War, viewers saw Thanos (Josh Brolin) snap Loki's (Tom Hiddleston) neck into two after the Asgardian God of Mischief tried to betray and kill the Mad Titan. While Joe and Anthony Russo have ascertained the death of Thor's (Chris Hemsworth) brother, Loki will return in Avengers: Endgame.
Leaked images have featured Loki and several other Avengers in New York, suggesting possible time travel in the film. While this doesn't come entirely as a surprise, Endgame will confirm a long-held Loki fan theory – that the Asgardian God of Mischief was actually under the influence of the Mind Stone during the first Avengers movie.
Marvel just updated a passage on its official page for the character and in it, fans get to learn about the scepter fueling Loki's hatred for his brother and the people living on Earth.
"Arriving at the Sanctuary through a wormhole caused by the Bifrost, Loki met the Other, ruler of the ancient race of extraterrestrials the Chitauri, and Thanos. Offering the God of Mischief dominion over his brother's favorite realm Earth, Thanos requested the Tesseract in return. Gifted with a Scepter that acted as a mind control device, Loki would be able to influence others. Unbeknownst to him, the Scepter was also influencing him, fueling his hatred over his brother Thor and the inhabitants of Earth."
While this might seem like a bit of a cheat, it's hard not to give Loki a pass. The Asgardian can be a charming delight with his wit and humor and the character did manage to redeem himself in Thor: Ragnarok, more so in Infinity War.
Avengers: Endgame makes its debut on April 26.
