Marvel Fans Have A 'Rehire James Gunn' Billboard Put Up Near Disneyland

It's been more than 3 months since Disney decided to ax Guardians of the Galaxy director James Gunn for insensitive and inappropriate tweets that the filmmaker made more than a decade ago, however it seems like some Marvel fans still aren't over the shock they received when they heard the news. Not only has the fanbase petitioned for his return, but they've also decided to spend their own money renting a billboard near Garden Grove's Disneyland to convince Disney to rehire Gunn.

The Hollywood Reporter just recently wrote on the billboard, saying that the same group of fans who had decided to create a website called RehireJamesGunn.com to catch the attention of the Mickey Mouse House decided to pay a company $4000 to put up the digital billboard.

The billboard which is set to run till November 25 had been paid for by funds raised through a GoFundMe page which aims to gather around $12,000 to pay for even more billboards close to multiple Disney parks around the country. While the campaign still sits at $5,015 online, it looks like donors have a billboard to prove the campaign's legitimacy.

While this new campaign that fans have made for Disney to reconsider their decision to fire Gunn might seem heart-warming at best, it seems rather unlikely for the Mickey Mouse House to rehire the filmmaker. Disney has stood its ground time and time again, denying rumors that it was going to bring back Gunn into the fold despite the loud pleas from fans and from Marvel stars like Dave Bautista, Chris Pratt, and many others.

Fortunately, it seems like Gunn has a new job, this time writing the script for DC's Suicide Squad 2.

Suicide Squad 2 doesn't have a release date yet, but we'll update everyone as soon as we get word.
