It appears that Marvel's Daredevil is making a comeback, three years after Netflix cancelled the series, ranking at No. 8 on Nielsen's weekly U.S. streaming chart of originals for the period of Dec. 20-26, and now, showrunner Steven DeKnight and actress Deborah Ann Woll, who played Karen Page, have reacted to the show's impressive resurgence.
Over on Twitter, Deborah Ann Woll shared the news from Deadline, and Steven DeKnight retweeted and wrote: "Congrats to the cast and crew who poured their hearts into #Daredevil for three wonderful seasons!"
The news of Daredevil's return to the Nielsen's Top 10 charts comes after new interest was sparked following the brief cameo of Matt Murdock, a.k.a. Daredevil (played by Charlie Cox), in Spider-Man: No Way Home. Murdock's arch-nemesis, Wilson Fisk, a.k.a. Kingpin (played by Vincent D'Onofrio) also appeared as a key part of Disney+'s Hawkeye storyline that week.
Marvel's Daredevil ran for three seasons, releasing all the episodes on Netflix between 2015 to 2018. The show became a hit on Netflix, and it spawned a handful of programs set in the same cinematic universe, which included The Defenders, Jessica Jones, Luke Cage, Iron Fist, and The Punisher. Despite the positive response and a pitch from the showrunner for a fourth season, the show was cancelled after its third season, and star Vincent D'onofrio, who plays Wilson Fisk/Kingpin in the show, recently revealed the reason why the Daredevil was cancelled on Netflix.
