Marvel Could be Using Old Villains for a Thunderbolts Movie

The DCEU has their own supervillain team-up franchise with Suicide Squad, and though Marvel has never really been great at coming up with their baddies, it looks like they're going to be taking the spotlight soon.

According to Marvel's mystery insider Roger Wardell, the studio is actually planning a Thunderbolts movie with the intent to bring back villains from past MCU films. Wardell writes:

Don't worry, Marvel still has big plans for Zemo, Ghost, Justin Hammer, General Ross, and the Abomination. The Leader is being discussed to return as the main villain of Thunderbolts, which is being planned as a trilogy.

Of course, nothing has been confirmed for now, but Wardell had made some very accurate leaks about Avengers: Endgame back in December 2018, and it got into specific details like Captain America saying "Hail Hydra" and Thor being as fat as Volstagg. It's likely that this information about the Thunderbolts is accurate as well.

In the comics, the Thunderbolts were a team of supervillains that was formed by Zemo to pose as heroes, with most of them eventually redeeming themselves and becoming actual heroes. I'm actually pretty happy with the rumored character names being announced for the film because some of them were actually great villains, but they didn't get much screentime since they only lasted one film.

While there's potential for General Ross to become Red Hulk, I'm actually much more looking forward to the return of Justin Hammer (Sam Rockwell). He was actually one of the best parts of Iron Man 2, and it would be fun to see how his character has turned out after all these years.

So far a Thunderbolts movie has not been officially announced, but I'm definitely on board for this kind of film.
