Marvel Comics Decides to Pull All of Its Digital and Print Releases

It looks like Marvel Comics is suffering from the effect that the novel coronavirus pandemic has had on the economy.

According to a report by Bleeding Cool, Marvel Comics has just confirmed their release plans during the COVID lockdown. Not only does the publication intend to withhold the release of new print comic book titles in stores this week, but it also plans to keep from releasing any of its titles digitally whether it be through the Marvel App, through ComiXology, or through Kindle.

Marvel Comics however has indicated that it may continue the release of the digital editions of collected editions of comic books.

Releasing a statement to comic book retailers and to members of the press

"As you know, unfortunately there will not be any new print titles available at your shops this week. Marvel will also not be releasing any new comic book titles digitally on April 1. This is a fluid situation with details changing every day, so we appreciate your patience and understanding as we all navigate our way through this. As soon as more information is available, we will outline our longer-term plans and opportunities to support you and the industry."

Marvel Comics aren't the only ones taking action to preserve business during the spread of COVID-19. DC Comics has also decided to limit its digital releases.

The spread of the novel coronavirus has certainly hurt the entertainment industry over the past few months. Not only are comic book publications taking a major hit, but so are studios and television networks. We can only hope that this pandemic ends soon.
