To ramp up the upcoming movie of Black Panther: Wakanda Forever and introduce the lore to younger children, Marvel and Disney will release Black Panther Wakanda Forever: The Courage to Dream which follows a young girl on her way to being part of the Dora Milaje.

In a report from The Root, Black Panther Wakanda Forever: The Courage to Dream will be focused on a new young hero, Assata, a Wakandan child who dreams to become part of the Dora Milaje, the all-women elite force protecting the Black Panther and the kingdom.

However, Assata has one problem, she has a disability and that almost made her let go of her dream. She encounters new friends: princess Shuri, Dora Milaje member Okoye, and leader of the Jabari tribe, M'Baku. Join Assata as she finds her courage to dream.

Black Panther Wakanda Forever: The Courage to Dream is written by Frederick Joseph, New York Times bestselling author, and illustrated by Nikkolas Smith, New York Times bestselling illustrator.

Talking to The Root, Joseph shared, “Black Panther in many respects is a story of perseverance and hope, which is at the core of everything I wanted Assata to stand for: a young girl who can remind children and adults alike to never give up on our dreams.”

Joseph added, “Wakanda is my wildest dreams come true;, a place where the seeds of Blackness have been able to grow unapologetically into a tree of free expression, creativity, and wonder.”

Smith, on the other hand, expounded on his background while illustrating the book, “I had a lot of Wakandan background characters in my head to draw from. Imagining what some of their backstories were, I sketched multiple ‘speed paintings’ to create new Wakandan characters who populate these beautiful villages, schools, and homes.”

Illustrating Assata, a child with disability, is poised to make a lasting impact and Smith feels honored to help these kids, “I’m honored to be able to help young children with disabilities see themselves as the courageous heroes that they are.”

Black Panther Wakanda Forever: The Courage to Dream will be out for sale on November 1, 2022. Black Panther: Wakanda Forever arrives in theaters on November 11, 2022.
