Mark Hamill’s Tweet Prompts Speculation That Luke Skywalker Might Appear In Star Wars: Episode IX

Could Star Wars: Episode IX bring back Luke (Mark Hamill)?

Star Wars fans who've seen Star Wars: The Last Jedi know that the Jedi Master's life comes to an end in The Force Awakens sequel. In the film, Luke spends all of his life Force projecting his likeness on the salt mineral planet of Crait to fight Kylo Ren (Adam Driver) and help the Resistance escape the First Order.

It's a dramatic battle and in the end Luke finds himself fading into the distance while watching twin suns set on Ahch-To.

Though fading into the Force while bathing in the light of a twin sunset seemed like a perfect way to end Luke's arc, some fans feel outraged that The Last Jedi would take away one of the franchise's biggest legends, and some are hoping to see the Jedi Master return in Episode IX.

Though there hasn't been any confirmation that Hamill will reprise his role as Luke in the last chapter of Lucasfilm's sequel trilogy, a new tweet by the Star Wars legend has prompted speculation of his appearance in the film.

Replying to a friend, Hamill just recently confirmed that he'd be heading back to Ireland next month, and Star Wars fans all know that the Ahch-To scenes were shot in Skellig Michael south of the country. Could Hamill be heading back to set before filming begins in summer?

We just have to wait and see.

Star Wars: The Last Jedi is getting its digital release on March 13 and its Blu-Ray release on March 27.
