Mark Hamill Tries To Debunk Classic Star Wars Luke And Carrie Myth

Mark Hamill might have been having a lot of fun trolling Star Wars fans on Twitter, but from time to time the Star Wars legend also does his best to debunk various rumors regarding everyone's favorite galaxy far, far away.

This week, Hamill decided to weigh in again on a Star Wars rumor that's been going on since time immemorial, calling the narrative nothing but a #FalseStory.

For those who've been following the franchise since the release of Star Wars: Episode IV – A New Hope, there's a point in time after Luke destroys the Death Star and is consequently congratulated by his fellow Rebels. Hugging princess Leia, fans imagine that Hamill makes a mistake, saying Carrie instead of Leia.

One fan decided to bring this up on Twitter, saying that Luke might have just been making "an excited shriek" instead of saying "Carrie" like what most Star Wars fans would believe. Responding to this post, Hamill decided to clear up the Star Wars myth.

"No matter how often this is debunked-it still comes back. The entire scene was dubbed. I said "There she..."- as in "There she (is)" when I saw her. George would never have allowed me to say "Carrie" even if I wanted to as a joke, which I didn't. It makes no sense. #FalseStory," the actor wrote on his post.

This isn't the first time that Hamill's tried to debunk this classic Star Wars myth. The Star Wars legend also wrote a post about it in 2015, defending himself from fans.

Guess we don't have a fun Star Wars blooper after all.

Hamill is set to reprise his role as Luke Skywalker in Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker which premieres on December 20, 2019.
