Star Wars’ Daisy Ridley Opens Up About Her 'Horrid' First Days On 'The Force Awakens'

Star Wars actress Daisy Ridley might seem like a natural on the big screen, but taking on a lead role in a franchise as massive as Star Wars can bring a whole lot of pressure, especially during the first few days of filming.

Speaking with Josh Horowitz on the Happy Sad Confused podcast, Ridley decided to open up about her first few days filming Star Wars: The Force Awakens, her very first Star Wars film. During the interview, the British actress admitted that she felt a whole lot of stress when she came on set, saying that she felt sick and that it took her a while to finally settle down with people on set.

"It was pretty horrid," Ridley told Horowitz, "It was really scary. I felt just sick and I didn't really know anyone yet, and it takes me a really long time to settle down with people."

According to Ridley, she had a pretty hard time dealing with the benefits that usually come with becoming the lead star of something as big as Star Wars.

"And I do remember being behind the speeder and there was loads of people there and somebody had an umbrella over me and even that... you're like, 'Oh someone's holding an umbrella over you? OK'. And I remember thinking, 'I can't do it. Like, I can't do this, this is not right'," the actress went on explaining. "Even my mum at the premiere of The Force Awakens went: 'I mean... I'm nervous, but there must be a reason why they cast you'.

It took a while for Ridley to adjust with the glory and the fame that came along with playing a role as big as Rey's, yet it seems like the British actress has finally adapted to the stress that Star Wars brings with it. Now, the actress is working on her last sequel trilogy entry, Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker.

Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker premieres December 20, 2019.
