Mark Hamill Reveals First Look at Batman: The Killing Joke Animated Movie

Mark Hamill just revealed the very first glimpse of Warner Bros Animation's Batman: The Killing Jokefilm.

The 64-year-old Star Wars actor has been known as an active member on the social media scene. Today, he took to his official Twitter account to provide fans a preview of his latest animated film endeavour. Each tweet came with one word from the title of the film and a quote from Alan Moore and Brian Bolland's graphic novel. Eventually, the words spelled out "The Killing Joke."

Today, Comic Book Resources confirmed that Kevin Conroy and Mark Hamill will both be reprising their roles as the voices of Batman and the Joker for the upcoming adaptation of The Killing Joke. They will be joined by Tara Strong as the voice of Barbara Gordon/Batgirl, as well as Ray Wise as the voice of Commissioner Gordon.

In a statement, Hamill said:

The chance to work once again with Kevin Conroy, my favorite Batman, in what some consider the definitive origin of this iconic villain is a dream come true for me. I am beyond thrilled to return as The Joker in 'The Killing Joke!

And "beyond thrilled," he is. Not all celebrities are fond of taking to their social media accounts to promote or share their excitement about current projects. Hamill has made an art form out of it. There's something about his tweets that make people feel really excited about his projects without making them feel too overwhelmed with the social media updates. It also helps that he's a totally cool guy.

The Killing Joke, penned by Alan Moore and illustrated by Brian Bolland, is one of the most well-known and praised Joker stories ever published. It has also become one of the most controversial Joker stories, mainly because of the brutality of the violence and abuse against Barbara Gordon/Batgirl.

The Killing Joke animated film will arrive in stores later this summer. It will premiere at this year's San Diego Comic-Con.
