Mark Hamill Pens Heartfelt Letter to The Mandalorian Season 2 Finale Director

Luke Skywalker's surprise cameo in The Mandalorian Season 2 finale was one of the best things that happened in 2020 and fans are undoubtedly grateful for the Jedi Master's triumphant return. Interestingly, Mark Hamill himself is also thankful that his character was brought back in the Star Wars series so he penned a heartfelt letter to the man who directed the episode.

Peyton Reed, who directed Chapter 16: The Rescue, recently tweeted a photo along with a touching message for Hamill.

"Dear @HamillHimself, When I was a kid, this photo hung on my bedroom wall. STAR WARS, and Luke Skywalker in particular, meant a great deal to me. Some things never change. It was an honor and a dream come true to work with you on @themandalorian. Thank you," he wrote before adding the hashtag #MTFBWY.

Hamill was clearly moved by the message and retweeted his own letter in return.

"Dear @MrPeytonReed , I am so grateful to have been given the unexpected opportunity to revisit my character when he was still a symbol of hope & optimism. Your assured direction & kindness was a crucial element in the experience & means more to me than I can say," Hamill wrote. He then added the hashtag #ThankYOU.

We're loving how these two creative minds managed to inspire each other and deliver one of the best episodes of The Mandalorian so far. Needless to say, we're hoping that we haven't seen the last of Luke just yet.

It is still unclear if Mark Hamill will return in The Mandalorian Season 3. The next season is expected to premiere on Disney+ next year.
