Mark Hamill: Luke's Bespin Outfit Debuted on the Muppets, Not Empire Strikes Back

It's no mystery that Star Wars' Mark Hamill is a big fan of the Muppets, and he even made an appearance on the show as Luke Skywalker. Hamill reminisces his guest appearance on Twitter and actually reveals that Luke's Bespin outfit was revealed on The Muppets first before it came out on the big screen.

Just in case you're curious, here's a little bit of Hamill's appearance on the show:

It's worth noting that the Muppets and Star Wars are actually closer than you think. Frank Oz, who voices Yoda, is also the voice of several other Muppet characters like Miss Piggy, Fozzie, and Cookie Monster. George Lucas was also executive producer for Jim Henson's Labyrinth. At this point, Mark Hamill appearing on the show was an inevitability.

For now, Hamill is set to return for Star Wars Episode IX, and you can bet that the film still has appearances from fantastic new creatures and aliens. Maybe they can even have Frank Oz appear as himself this time, or maybe have another return for Yoda. I don't expect him to do too much for the film though, as Oz has said that it was already tricky just to work on Yoda's character in The Last Jedi.

We still don't have a trailer for Episode IX, but everyone is expecting it to debut by the end of the week during Star Wars Celebration. Let's hope it was all worth the wait.

Catch Star Wars Episode IX in theaters Dec. 20.
