Though the film didn't fail to surprise the fans, it was also heartbreaking due to May's death at the hands of Willem Dafoe's Green Goblin. Marisa Tomei made her debut as Aunt May in 2016's Captain America: Civil War, and starred again in Tom Holland's Spider-Man debut, Spider-Man: Homecoming. After appearing in two Spider-Man films over the years following Homecoming, Aunt May's appearance in No Way Home was anticipated but no one ever thought that this would also be Aunt May's last appearance in the Spider-Man franchise.

May's journey as an Aunt to Peter Parker was eventful, and even though it didn't come to a happy ending, her death gave Parker a breakthrough.

In a recent interview, Aunt May actress Marisa Tomei teased a future appearance for her character, thanks to the multiverse that the MCU is currently revolving on.

Marisa Tomei was the guest of The Tonight Show with Jimmy Fallon, and the actress shared her thoughts about returning to the MCU as Aunt May Parker again.

Tomei first admitted that she has no idea about the multiverse, and it allowed her to keep spoilers a secret. Tomei explained, “Oh yes, there is a Multiverse. That was part of the secrecy originally, now a lot of people know. But the thing was, if anyone asked me about it, I don’t understand the Multiverse myself. Our wonderful director, Jon, and I’m like ‘And so, where am I now? Ok, well, can you explain it to me one more time?"

The actress then teased an idea on Aunt May's return through the multiverse, which she would extremely love if given the opportunity. "I would love to come back and be a part of that. There’s history there, too. May Parker hooks up with Ant-Man. Well, I mean, she’s a standalone character, of course, but there are more avenues to explore."

One thing that we learned from No Way Home, is that anyone could return. Any character from the previous franchise, another character from another cinematic universe could reunite with another, and any character can make their debut with the MCU's multiverse concept.

Now, with Marisa Tomei's statement, no one would hate if she comes back again as Aunt May, or as anyone related to Peter Parker. While there are no reports yet about Tomei's future for the MCU, the writers can certainly play with her character more in the future Spderverse introducing her as a key role to Holland's Peter Parker, or even as a future villain would be mindblowing for the fans.

Spider-Man: No Way Home will be available to purchase on digital platforms, on March 22.
